Don’t bother with overpriced hotels in Iceland. Airbnbs are the way to go! Here is a little information about the ones we stayed at in Iceland:
Room 3. Lovely room, City centre, WiFi
Our first night in Iceland was in a guest room of a small house centrally located in Reykjavik. The room was spacious and clean with some nice plants. Checking in was a breeze, and many places to eat were in walking distance. I wouldn’t recommend spending more than a few nights here, since the bathroom and kitchen are shared.
Pros: Inexpensive, clean, good location.
Cons: Small shared bathroom.
Coziness rating: 7.
Mountain Queen Angelica
The best Airbnb of our trip was a cozy bed and breakfast in Hvolsvöllur. This beautiful, quaint farm is only 5 minutes from the Skogafoss waterfall and about 20 minutes from Vik. The breakfast consisted of homemade fresh baked bread, jams and preserves, hardboiled eggs, and an assortment of meats. It was delicious and very filling. Hospitality was above and beyond. We hope to say here again sometime.
Pros: Wonderful hosts, great breakfast, good location.
Cons: Shared bathroom, WIFI was extremely slow and spotty.
Coziness rating: 9.
Million dollar view-private entrance room en suite
Our last Airbnb was back Reykjavik in a master bedroom suite with a private entrance. The bathroom was recently renovated and was sparking clean. The room was well decorated, had an excellent view, and was packed full of amenities. French press, microwave, water pot, and a toaster just to name a few. The bed was adjustable, and had built in massage capabilities. Thordis was an incredible host. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

Pros: Great bed, lots of amenities, beautiful view.
Cons: Space is a bit small, no walkaway to entrance.
Coziness rating: 9.
